AT&T Provides ‘STEM at Work’ Student Experiences Throughout Florida

AT&T Florida has again provided $100,000 to challenge Florida’s district-wide local education foundations to create STEM workplace experiences throughout the state during the 2012-13 school. This funding has allowed a total of 7,483 students to participate in 84 projects across the state, involving 113 business partners since 2010. This investment from AT&T, totaling $320,000, provides students with a hands-on experiential learning opportunity outside the classroom that is directly linked to their coursework in science, technology, engineering and/or math. Problem-solving, real-world application of STEM education concepts and critical thinking skills will all be key elements.

"Floridians need to ensure that our youth have the tools they need to maximize their individual efforts to become contributing members of society.” said Marshall Criser, III, AT&T Florida President. "By concentrating on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math curriculum, this program provides real life experiences that can help increase the number of Florida’s students graduating high school college- and career-ready.”
