The Teachers are Heroes initiative was started with a founding partner grant from Citigroup. The program was created on the principle of honoring teachers and the teaching profession. All programs under this initiative are aimed at supporting teachers in their classroom and recognizing excellence.

Under the Teachers are Heroes umbrella, the Consortium produces the Citigroup Team Mentor Grant program.

The Citigroup Team Mentor Grant program is a statewide initiative. These grants provide an arena where new and veteran teachers collaboratively explore exciting teaching opportunities through student learning projects, facilitate professional development, and create more dynamic relationships between new and veteran teachers.

The Suncoast for Kids Classroom Grant is available toteachers in Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Desoto, Glades, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Levy, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sumter Counties. These classroom grants are meant to support teachers develop innovative programs to advance student achievement.
